    Any resolution on this?

This in one of the reasons I am hesitant to tune my truck.

I use it to haul, and pretty heavy, and I really love the Aisin.

Re: Aisin Trans 2nd-3rd Hard Shift after Pulling?

    So another update.

After leaving my truck on the 0 setting I was still having the unbearable 2nd-3rd shift.

I tried everything from using the method described on the other page to completely changing my driving habits, but nothing made a difference.

I finally gave in and removed the MM3, and uninstalled the software, and reinstalled my EGR, and factory def system.

The shift was immediately a little better, and after one day pulling my dump trailer the hard shift is gone, and the truck shifts like day one when I purchased it.

I have no clue what was causing the hard shift, but it looks like I will not have a deleted Cummins.

It is a shame, because I loved the sound, and extra response, but the shifting was miserable.

It got to the point where I only used my truck when absolutely necessary, and just drove my wife's car when able.

Now the truck is fun to drive once again.

On a side note I may have a MM3 for sale.

    Very strange for sure.

I have pulled my 14K fifth wheel with the 30HP tune, no shifting issues noted.

    Thanks for sharing this information.

I respect your decision to return to stock and hope your truck continues to shift smoothly.

Please keep us posted. @DRD any ideas or comments?

    I have no ideas.

Since we cant tune the Aisin, there is no input on our end.

We tune a ton of Aisin trans trucks and 99.9 percent of them behave just fine.

When the hard shift developed the engine seemed to continue to increase rpm during the shift like it wasn't defueling properly.

It would occur after a hard pull with a load behind the truck.

After reinstalling the def/egr system, and a couple of hard pulls with the trailer the issue was resolved.

I thoroughly enjoyed the delete, it was the shifting issue that had ruined it for me however.

For all you members with an aisin transmission encountering shift flare and just an overall sluggish feel off the line i may have just solved your issue for good.

At least mine has completely been resolved, the best part... it requires absolutely no mods.

This may even help you 68RFE guys too as its helped a few friends out.

For some reason from the factory hill start assist is enabled in your settings, go into your settings and disable hill start assist.

It prevents you from rolling back on a hill by keeping the rear brakes on for a couple of seconds until you apply the throttle enough to overcome the roll back, that's why you're encountering that sluggish feeling even in town, maybe it can't quite detect if your on a hill.

Quicker throttle response, removes that sluggish feeling from a dead stop completely and smoother shifts.

    1. Find a long dry flat road.
    2. Come to a complete stop, make sure to do this with no load or trailer, tune 0, traction control off. Tranny at 150-165
if you leave traction control on it will not fix your problem.
    3. Turn on Tow/haul mode and full exhaust brake.
    4. Stab the petal let it eat till it shifts threw all gears full throttle
    5. Once you have achieved 6th gear you let off fully, never touching the brake.
    6. let her downshift all the way to a complete stop.

Repeat process twice, if those 2 pulls don't fix it, do it 2 more times.

It took 4 pulls to fix mine, haven't had any problems since. My buddy only needed 2 pulls to fix his.

After this process your truck WILL NOT shift the same, it turns into another animal.
    Did this procedure 6+ times.

Still has the same shift problem.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

Just wondering if a quick learn would help (resetting the Clutch Volume Index).

I see Alfa OBD has a transmission quick learn option listed, but I don’t know if it’s just for the 68RFE or working with the Aisin.

The other option would be a trip to the dealership.

    Hopefully, others will chime in.

    Please keep us posted.
