3rd Gen Tow Mirror on 4th Gen truck

Has another put a 3rd gen tow mirror on a 4th gen truck?

I don't care for the little long mirror on the 4th gen mirrors and loved the little mirror on the 3rd gen style.

Has another ever took the mirror/housing from a 3rd gen and made it work on the 4th gen part that bolts to the door?

It almost looks like they will interchange but hard to tell.

You're not alone, I hate the new tow mirrors.

I loved the ones on my 3rd Gen and was researching this last night but only found threads about 4th gen mirrors on 3rd gens.

The little blind spot mirror was much better for checking your blind spot, and the big mirror was also better IMO.

I'm gonna try to compare the two mirrors on the truck, and I'll get back to you if I figure anything out.

I’m curious whether or not the glass from the 3rd Gen mirror could be installed into the 4th gen housing.

Dimensions look different but it may be possible to make it work.

The mount on the 4th Gen mirror is different than the 3rd Gen mirror but I’m not sure about the rest.

I would like to grab a set of 3rd Gen mirrors myself so I can look into it further.

Maybe it’s more effort than it’s worth, but I enjoy these kinds of projects sometimes.

Ya I know the mount that mounts to the truck is different.

I wonder if you can unbolt the mirror from that part of it and bolt the part from the 3rd Gen mirror to it.

I was hoping to compare the two for that reason.

If the part with the glass has the same hinge as the 4th gen then it might be able to be cobbled together, I just haven’t compared them aside by side yet to know.

I would like to see if the glass could be transferred to try and retain the marker lights but sometimes sacrifices must be made LOL.
