    Squeal when exhaust brake actuates

Recently deleted and when running the exhaust brake it makes a high pitched squeal outside and what seems to be the cab. Any ideas?

This is normal and nothing to worry about. The DPF and SCR (or catalytic converter depending on your year) muffles the exhaust brake sound almost entirely in stock form.

It didn’t make this noise for the week I ran it with just the exhaust I just did the egr side and it started after that.

Agreed the high pitched whistle is normal, but If it sounds like blowing through two blades of grass, could be an exhaust manifold gasket leak. Check the exhaust stud spacers for rotation. I had this sound and both #1 cylinder exhaust manifold studs were broken.

Also check your exhaust block off plates and exhaust gas temperature probe or pipe plug in plate for exhaust leaks.

Good ideas! Please let us know what you figure out. I’m gonna go check on my grid heater after all this talk about engines eating bolts lately

I'm not the only one that had the pipe plug blow out of the rear block off plate.

I didn't think to check for tightness when first installed.

It was the rear block off plate gasket.

It no longer squeals when the exhaust brake actuates.

    Damn.

Mine has always done that and I assumed it was due to the straight through exhaust.

I’ll have to check the rear block off plate.

When I installed the kit I lost the original plug and bought a new one that didn't seem to fit great but I snugged it down anyway.
