    Alternator Question

I notice on cold starts, the voltage fluctuates between 12 and 14. Almost as if the alternator is kicking in and out.
It's done this since I got the truck a couple years ago. Only does it for a short while, then sits on full charge.
I figure it's normal, but wanted to validate in case I should be replacing my alternator.

Never ending project. Always adding something...

Mine does the same thing since I bought it new.

It’s probably the grid heater cycling on and off.

Absolutely the grid heater cycling will cause this and it’s normal due to the heavy current draw of the heater element (200 amps plus)
