    Possible Loose Shift Lever Fix

Eddie is a different kind of Kat! But he is always thinking outside the box and gives me alot of kewl ideas some times!

    He posted this just recently.
Mine is a bit loose but not as bad as his was.

You can skip most of the video to see how he corrects the issue! (I will be applying some blue loctite to mine).

Hope this helps some folks! He means well - He likes to Ramble like Myself!

There’s not a recall out yet for this. I’ve sent videos and pictures to engineering and other FCA field advisors. Take it in to the dealer and let them tighten it. The more repair orders of loose shifters we send in the faster FCA sees that’s it’s a issue.

Re: Possible Loose Shift Lever Fix

Honestly I have no Desire to drive 2 hours to my dealer and have my daily driver sit there for lord knows how long for a 10 min fix - when I can do this in my garage with 1 small tool and some loctite & sleep well knowing the job is done correctly!
That unfortunately is not how I am wired & Faith in others is NOT one of my strong points.
Others whom are not busy and have all day to stand around and wait - This might be a great idea & I totally understand your thinking with this.

Thank You very much for your advice - but its for a different type of owner.

Question though: What actually is the U11 Brake Transmission Shift interlock?

Question though: What in the bloody He!! is the U11 Brake Transmission Shift interlock?
U11 is 16-18 shift brackets. Some of the shift bracket a are letting the shifter be moved out of park with out pressing the brake. 19- current are not affected.

    Thank You Chrisn!
I see now its only a Re Flash fix! - Over Heating issue- "The problem has been linked to drivers who hold down the brake pedal for a long period while idling in Park."

"If the system overheats, the shifter could be moved without having a key in the ignition or a foot on the brake, which could bring the truck to move unless the parking brake is correctly adjusted and applied. So far, there have been no known real-world accidents from this issue."

"A software fix is now available for 2017-2018 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks. It requires only a few minutes of time, a disconnection of the battery, a relearn of the CANBUS, and a quick test drive around the dealership."

Shifters that stay in park get just a bcm flash.

Shifters that move out of park get a new bracket and the bcm flash.

I’ve seen some that have had the bcm flash still need a shift bracket later on though.

Your sig show your truck is a 2017?

You won’t have the same issue shown in that video.

2019s are setup completely different than the 18 down.

Re: Possible Loose Shift Lever Fix

I apologize! I was ignorant to this matter - I thought eddies issue he is having with his loose shifter lever was a problem with many of the past years as well.

Mine is wobbly as well but not as bad as eddies.
Next day off I will look close at it & tighten if needed.

    Once again I apologize!
