    Flatbed Correctiveness/Modification

So when I bought this truck it already came with the flatbed.

Had a aftermarket class IV reciever hitch and no spare.

Automatically I knew I was gonna be installing the oem class V hitch. I did not want to alter it in any way due to if I come across a bed I can't refuse it would have the brackets and such such for the bumper. So I knew I needed to extend it.

This bed was made for another vehicle. They don't manufacturer this kind anymore and the frame had been cut up a bit to fit around the shock mounts and leaf spring mounts.

The weekend before doing the work I started measuring and low and behold! I honestly didn't even notice it the whole time, the gooseneck location was actually forward of the rear axle.

So got some rough measurements and got some material.

The other weekend I started it, I wasn't able to finish but got it to a point to where it was drivable again. When I got it cut in half I got the reciever hitch installed first and went about getting the bed in line, gooseneck over the axle, filling in the cut outs on the bed frame and doing what I can with the time I had.

I bought some aftermarket body mount hardware that will secure it down and be good enough to allow the truck frame to flex like it should. I still need to get the bed completely off the truck and finish welding in areas on the frame, get it painted, then I'll get the wiring put back properly. More updates to come!

When I'm done it'll look like it was made for the truck.

I have been pondering on some skirting, maybe a toolbox on each side.

    So many options!

Finally got the time to upload some progress I made during the holidays.

Cut out, welded in some steel. Got the new mounts in.

Even got a shot with the new B&W hitch too!

I got the factory trailer plug I'm gonna cut in when I get the chance.

UPDATE!!! Unfortunately, it has been a long while.

Work tends to let time fly by.

Since my last post, I got the bed finished up!

    All-new LED lights.

While at the same time I did some upgrading with help from DRD.

Definitely am happy the way the engine and transmission act now.
