    What Conditions Do You Monitor?

Being that I'm a "newbie" to the tuned Cummins world I was wondering what conditions you monitor on your MM3 dash board and why.

I bought the truck to haul heavy equipment but it's also my daily driver.

So probably 90% will be without a heavy load but when I'm hauling my John Deere 400G dozer she's going to be maxed out.

    Your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Mac H

I think it boils down to personal preference. I like to monitor the exhaust gas temperature especially when towing. I set the alarm at 1250F. Running any higher for extended periods will cause severe engine damage.

Wish I had the option to do that, but unfortunately doesn’t show with my Aisin transmission.

That makes me wonder if they will ever release the capability to just monitor the parameters of the Aisin.

I mean edge monitors it all....

    I've had the same question.

Other than rpm, voltage and gear....I'm not sure what I need to be looking at!

I monitor EGT for obvious reasons.

I monitor transmission line pressure because if it starts to vary from what I am used to seeing I know I got problems, probably cross leaks.

I monitor what gear I'm actually in.

    I monitor Voltage.

I monitor Boost Pressure because it along with EGT is a good way to know how hard your engine is working.

Boost - max 32 with stick charger to stay in map
    rail pressure- fluctuates with load
    trans temp- max 170 desired
    engine temp- max 200 desired
intake air temp- Ive got an intake horn and grid delete so been keepin an eye on this to see if there’s a drop in temps
I forget 6th- I don’t have egt probe yet (Shame on me).

I used to run gear/TQ state. I can now tell just riding down the road what gear and converter status is

    EGT (mandatory, especially when towing)
Boost (another important to monitor gauge)
    Gear position ( Just because)
    timing (yep)
    load (goes with timing)
