    Another oil, filter debate

So I was always using Mopar filters on my 16 that I put 300k with basic maintenance.

    I am in a new 18 3500.

Mopar was kinda pricey or should I not be Jewish and sick to it.

    What's your experience?

Pic of my current ride will be deleted soon.

I'm not going to recommend any one brand of filter due to many 6.7L owners have gone well over 300K miles with the Mopar filters!
(They are possibly produced by Fleetguard this day & age) = Excellent High Quality Filter!

I chose to go with the Wix 57620XP: Due to the Wire Backed Dual Synthetic Media and the Coil Spring By-Pass & Silicone Anti-Drain back valve.
Also - Amazon sells them for $8 (Local Napa is double the price on the same filter) & they wonder why they are continually dusting the shelves!
(Wix claims they sacrificed a bit higher micron rating for more flow with the XP).

As long as Amazon keeps the XPs @ $8 - I will continue to use them.
If they do not - I will begin running the Fleetguard Stratapores (4 are in my garage cabinet)

Note: I am kinda partial to the fluted bottom filters - due to my filter wrench is specially designed for them and makes removing a snap!

Edit Note: Filters to research & could possibly run if you so choose.
    1. Fleetguard LF9028 ES
    2. Fleetguard Stratapore LF16035 -- (All 5 of these are Extremely High Quality filters)
    3. Donaldson Blue DBL7349
    4. Royal Purple 40-780
    5. Mobil 1 EP M1-403

The Mopar 5083285AA is the only conventional media filter - I would even consider.

Mopar filters are good filters friend.

    They are not that pricey.

Better to stick with a good quality filter than a filter that’s a couple dollars cheaper.

You get what you pay for.

    Re: Another oil, filter debate

Here is a crazy question. I started running the Mopar filter for the first 2 oil changes.

I then switched to the Fleetgaurd Stratapore, only because a friend gave them to me and it seem to be the upgraded filter over the Mopar and Standard Fleetgaurd.

Now It seems like the truck takes 1 more qt of oil to reach the fill mark.

The first 2 changes it took right a 12 qts. 3 one gallon jugs.

Now it seems the last 2 times its needed 13qts.

I've used the same Vavoline Extreem Diesel 5w/40 the only thing that has changed is the filter from Mopar to Fleetgaurd Stratapore.

I figure I'm getting old and just loosing my mind LOL...

Just wondering if anyone else has seen similar results.

By all means feel free to call me crazy though also hahaha..

There is a lot of research on this over at the Turbo Diesel Register.

    Lots of testing.

The Fleetguard Stratapore came out on top, but the Mopar OEM also did pretty well.

AllBiz: My service mgr & I had this conversation a ways back - he assured me all the OEM oil pans were created equal.

He couldn't say so much for the Dip Sticks & Tubes.

Just make sure your oil level is always showing to be @ the full mark for any type of warranty issues that could possibly occur.

My advice would be always check your oil level on/at the same level spot every time after the truck has set for a few hours or even over night - for your ideal accurate reading.
