The extended options allow for more access than alfa obd. Alfa obd is useful for bcm changes while I find autoenginuity is better for ecm diagnostics.

Looking at Autoenginuity and Alpha they dont specifically state that they can reset derate. Is it worded differently or sort of hidden?

Reached out to Autoenginuity and they informed me that their tool cannot reset a derate and can only assist in diagnosis of the problem.

A derate is the result of error codes.

You can use either to run a desoot or to clear the fuel maps.

You can also cause the system to think there is a new filter placed in the system.

The programs are not able to get rid of the codes as a witech might but they can't flash the ecm either. The key here is the ecm runs all of the sensors as soon as you open the door or unlock the truck. The tools can only help to reset code counts.

If you have a bad nox sensor, derate will happen because of the code counts, clearing codes only temporarily removes the check engine light.

The rest, can be done by making the truck either do certain things or by resetting certain code counts.

The otr tools sold for heavy duty truck do just that, reset the code counts and timers.
