    Q. What happens if a non-DEF substance is accidentally entered into the DEF tank?

    A. The SCR system will recognize solutions other than DEF, and the DEF indicator light will appear notifying the driver.

Depending on the level of contamination in the tank, the vehicle may require servicing.

Deleting is not an option for everyone. I don’t know how you would go about draining and flushing the DEF tank but that’s the route I would go. All this crazy BS on these trucks and EPA holding everyones feet to the fire. No wonder folks are so crazy.

Pull the fill neck off the tank and wet/dry shop vac it out or siphon it with a siphon kit.

I think I will drain it and then add more DEF.

Yes this would be a good time to delete as I have been wanting to do it anyways.

I attached a pic of the Diesel fuel supplement (Hope it works).

If not it is Power service diesel fuel supplement + cetane boost.

Before I forget thanks to all for their advice.

I am at work offshore and 7 hrs from home.

I will be back on land the 17th and will drain it then.

I have a way to suction out the old and have some new DEF in the truck already.

I think I will do this if I can get the filler off with out too many tools.

I didn't bring my tool box with me.

No tools necessary, just push down on detent and pull fill hose off DEF tank. (See attached)

Thank you @AK Bob for that info.

    I feel much better now.

I will drain the tank when I get back on shore and refill the tank.

Now to start looking for a delete "Kit".

    UPDATE:

I made it back to land and drained the DEF tank. It was easy and the only tool I needed was a screw driver to help get the filler tube off. But it came off with no troubles. I drained it in the mud of course, and put two gallons back in. I then drove it home 7 hours with no issues (thank God). Once home I drained it again and topped it off. No issues at all.

Thanks again for all the advice as it did help.

Now to research a delete kit/tuner.
