    First oil change ?

I just got a 2019 2500 was curious, when should I do first oil change. I’ve heard at 1,000 or 3,000 even when truck says too. This is my first Cummins I was told on my Ecodiesel to go full 10,000 but changed it at 8,000 no problems with it. Just want to due what’s best and protection for my truck. I tow at least 4 days a week. Thanks for recommendations

I’ve always changed the oil at 1000-1500 on brand new ones. Then on to 6-7600 mile intervals.

On my 19 I got in May I change at 3000 with Rotella T6 15w40. I just changed again at 10,000. This time I went to Rotella T6 5w40.

From now on I'll maybe be doing every 10k.

    2021 2500 68RFE..... I'll just keep the goodies a secret!!!

I always do the first at 1,000 miles on a new vehicle and then every 10k miles thereafter. Manual says every 15k and if you waited until then you'd still be fine, some of us just like to change it more often for peace of mind. I use Amsoil 5w-40 full synthetic with Amsoil or Fleetguard filters. I'm due for one in 2k miles and may try Hot Shot's Secret Blue Diamond PAO oil.

I did my first OCI @ 1500 miles then again @ 3K then again just the other day @ 8K. --->Just my New Truck OCD!

I'm not & never been a fan boy of changing oil chemistry with every oil change within the same engine... So I'm going to try my hardest to stick with the same brand of oil for the life of my 6.7L...

TRIAX (Combo) of Supreme ESP 5W-40 & 15W-40 along with either a Stratapore or DBL7349 filter...
Reason Being: Above average levels (PPM) of Moly/Boron & the ESP formulation - which plays nice with the DPF...

I will begin a UOA trend around the 25K-35K mile mark - Mainly to monitor Soot Levels/Fuel Dilution/TBN...
Possibly trying to drag out a 1yr OCI... (Starting in Nov)

    2017 Bighorn (Delmonico Red & Chrome) CC-HD2500-4WD-6.7L-3:42w/Anti-Spin
    Oil: -SHELL- Rotella T6 5W-40 & T5 15W-40 combo w/LF16035
68RFE/BW44-46/Power Steering: -Red Line- C+ ATF
Frontend & Rearend: -Red Line- SAE GL-5 75W-90NS

Hey just a thought on oil changes,I drove a 98 12 valve for 16 years always did my own oil changes. The first time I changed oil in my 2013 I couldn't believe how dirty the oil was. With the soot being pumped back to your intake via egr. My thoughts are every 3000 for conventional oil, I am sure soot is abrasive

Manual says there is no break in oil from the factory but I changed mine the first 6k then once a year or every 10k whichever comes first.

I use Royal Purple full synthetic 15W40.
