That coolant did not cause the issue. Looks like you have some rust in the system. I bet the turbo has a bit of rust under the actuator. Make sure to clean it out and clean the turbo surface off.

If it were not for bad luck I would have no luck at all.

    Okay, update.

If when installing the actuator, if it does not slide over the lever and on the turbo with ease, STOP.

That is the signal of the wrong housing. Jason sent me the new gearbox and I installed it Sunday.

The lever was rubbing on the housing and left its mark.

The turbo feels even better now and there is even more response down low and the actuator had a greater stroke than when I first swapped it out.

Now to clean out the turbo with some hard driving.

So the description at Geno's Garage states

    • Separate the actuator shell by removing the 4 torx bit screws holding it together.
    • Join our actuator to your gearbox with the included screws. (It is very important that the turbo be completely dry before installing the new actuator. If not, and the circuit board is fried, we WILL void the warranty)

But maybe this is in error.
This thread indicates the City Diesel Actuator comes in two pieces. You simply join them together and install.
And don't use the "gearbox" from the original actuator.
    Correct?

You da man. Thanks. Now I can place my order tonight and hopefully get the unit this week.
Maybe the 2007.5-12 trucks use part of the original actuator?

i did the same thing when I pulled my actuator this afternoon and actually found and purchased a set of 5 lobe security bits to take my old one apart.
Got it apart and the circuit board is screwed and glued into the "gearbox" half. So Geno's instructions kind of made me wonder since this part can't be returned.
