Thread: City Diesel Actuator for 2013+ Cummins 6.7L

Re: City Diesel Actuator for 2013+ Cummins 6.7L

This is an old thread, but I hope someone is still reading it.

I have a 2015 with full deletes and about 300k miles.

I still have the factory turbo and actuator.

I have been getting only the U010C code intermittently for the last few weeks.

    Now, it is always on.

With only one code, is the actuator most likely the cause?

    Thanks.l

If you got 300k on the factory turbo, that is impressive, LOL.

U010C code, as you already know, means the turbo can't communicate with the PCM.

It's most common with chargers with 80k or more.

We see every thread that gets a reply, regardless of whether it is old or not .

    That's what we're here for!

Has the exhaust brake given you any issues, or has strange engagement functionality recently?

    Good article to skim over.

Re: City Diesel Actuator for 2013+ Cummins 6.7L

I got in the truck this morning.

    CEL was back off.

The truck drove well on the way to work.

Unloaded, I got the boost up to near 30psi a couple of times.

I have never watched the gauge on the exhaust brake much, but it generated about -50HP with the truck unloaded and slowing from about 55 to 35.

I'm starting to think I might have more of a wiring problem than a problem with the actuator.

I had the same problem with the same symptoms.

It would clear up and work for a while, then start to fail, increasing in frequency (I noticed it more when we had high outside temps.)

Mine went for about a year before I needed to replace it after losing boost while towing.

I probably could have gone longer, but I didn’t want to risk it.

Went with City Diesel for over two years with no issues.

Better than 3,500 for an aftermarket turbo or 12k at the dealer.

Re: City Diesel Actuator for 2013+ Cummins 6.7L

    Update: CEL is still on.

I checked the codes, and for the first time, I have more than just the U010C; now, I have four codes.

POO3A: TURBOCHARGER BOOST CONTROL MODULE POSITION EXCEEDED LEARNING LIMIT
P006F: TURBOCHARGER BOOST CONTROL SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT HIGH
POOAF: TURBOCHARGER BOOST CONTROL MODULE PERFORMANCE
U010C: LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER CONTROL MODULE

    Any other thoughts?

I have been researching turbos and actuators and would like to determine which.

    300K on the original turbo.

    I would replace the turbo.
