    Grid Heater Troubles?

I just did the Glacier Diesel grid heater.

I did not delete mine, as it gets cold here.

My original bolt was tight when I took it all apart to install the grid heater.

I did it for peace of mind.

My son has a 2012, and his broke and was sucked down the #6 cylinder for $7000.00; later, he is back up and running.

I have peace of mind; mine will not have that happen.

I think peace of mind trumps the worry of when it will go out.

Talk to DDP on here; they will hook you up.

    How did the installation go?

    I am contemplating the purchase.

I currently have the grid heater unplugged from my truck.

    A breeze.

I can walk you through its pitfalls, shortcuts, tricks, etc.

The kicker is, not only did I do mine, but the following week, another pal, and the week after, another.

    So did a 2010 (mine), then a 2017, and a 2015.

The 2015 got the red horn, i posted pictures in another thread.

I'll post pictures tonight when I get home.

Do it, dont wait any longer; the kit comes with everything.

Are you reinstalling the sound-deadening foam piece?

Seems like if you reinstall it.

It would be hard to see any fuel leaks or fix them.

    Thanks.

Mine didn't have it; the 2015 and 2017 did.

I did reinstall it but had to cut off the front around the #1 injector line as it is different.

I observed it after a long run, with no visible leaks or smell.

My 2010 didn't have the foam.

That is a good question too.

Only someone who has been in there would ask this.

I, too, was concerned about being unable to see the leaks.

So give it lots of run time.

Odd, my 2014 didn’t come with the foam either.

Apparently, you can cut and slit pieces of rubber hose to deaden the sound, but I haven’t bothered.

    Leave that foam off.

    It's only for sound deadening.
