I’ll be installing my Dps compounds next week.

That will be the true test.

I just put a set of these in and torqued down to 130lb/ft.

I emailed them after ordering and they even gave me 10% refund as a military discount too.

Will see how they do and I will not be hot torquing them.

Edit: Installed 16 may 2020, went for a drive and all seems fine. Torqued to 135 ft lbs. Not opening rocker cover again until the head gasket goes.

Bringing this back, been driving the truck hard and no problems yet.

Keep in mind its a stockish truck.

They torqued perfectly and honestly, have no regrets.

I did some more research and found that the tensile strength is a bit stronger than ARPs hitting 240k psi.

I think IFG studs would be the way to go when looking for the high strength studs.

Power Driven Diesel did a video on them.

As for the low strength studs, interest in the Xotic head studs has brought me to this thread.

All I can share is the Dirty Diamond Diesel y
YouTube video has used a couple of sets of these studs and really likes them. I think he's just started using them this year, though, so no long term reviews available for them yet.

He did install them on a truck with an S467 turbo that I don't know many other details about, but would think can push some decent boost.

    Sorry, the videos are long.

    Just posting my proof.

Not to discredit the mans work, but the second video you linked is cringeworthy.

Using an air ratchet to put the studs in makes me very nervous and uncomfortable.

This is a tough one, I mean Xotic does provide documentation that their studs are worthy of being talked about and possibly considered.

The price point makes me nervous personally.

I’m not one to spend money based on name-brand, but more of a tried and true kind of person.

ARP’s are extremely well known across every platform you can think of.

This one may take a little while to take off but it’s possible that they’re very good.

At what age and mileage would it be considered too risky to install studs using the one at a time method?

There has to be a point where you gotta wait for the head gasket to just go then do the work?

Or is it a situation where one at a time can be done with no regards to mileage and heat cycles on the truck.

I ask because i want to do studs but not this week.

    Is waiting more risky?

    Re: Xotic Performance Head Studs

I just got off the phone with Xotic asking about their Head Studs.

Their engineers are in Canada, Production is in China and shipped to the USA, and Metals are sourced from multiple countries.

ARP has "Made in the USA" right on its website.

My biggest concern is overall quality compared to ARP.

Am I willing to trust my engine (thousands of dollars to replace/repair) to a Chinese-made head stud, or do I pay a few hundred more for a well-known and trusted brand?

I know several people who have used them, and that's great.

I hope everything works out and there are no issues in the future.

As for the testing, Xotic states they test a slightly higher tensile strength than ARP, but is that just for testing?

    How often are they rechecked?

How is quality control over in China?

    Just food for thought.

Anything internal or undercover, I shy away from chine-siam parts.

Chinese metallurgy isn’t up to par.

Support American manufactured quality whenever possible.
