    Recommended oil by cummins

Coming up on first oil change, does anybody know what oil Cummins recommends?

I'm not interested in personal preference or opinion.

Just what brand and weight Cummins recommend.

    Thanks

15W40 is fine. As in a brand of oil that is your preference. Just make sure you run a full synthetic oil and it meets the specs for a Cummins.

I do remember - reading Valvoline (Premium Blue) If I recall correctly!
Be it 15W-40 or (Extreme) 5W-40.

My service mgr - @ the dealership I bought my 2017 instructed me I had a choice of the VPBE 5W-40 or Shell T6 5W-40 - When they do 6.7L CTD oil changes.

@ Spikepuller ---->I think This ^^^ Answers your question!

Also - Like posted above run any brand of oil that carries the Cummins Spec... 15W-40 or 5W-40 - (10W-30 has become crazy popular due to its outstanding Shear Stability and low wear #'s & some MPG increase)...

I totally understand about person opinions & preferences! ---->Don't Blame Ya!

Well, my owners manual recommends every 6 months, 15000 miles, or 500 engine hours, whichever comes first. For me that’s every 6 months.

    Always used Rotella 15W-40.

Valvoline premium blue is the brand endorsed by Cummins Inc, if that is your question.

    I use Rotella T6 5w-40 year round
But any full Sync quality oil meeting the trucks specs will do.

X2 on Rotella! Ran it in my last Cummins for 5 1/2 years. New one will get it too. (Also with a bottle of Lucas). .

Cummins recommends Valvoline and Mopar recommends Rotella. Both say full synthetic recommended. I use Rotella T6 15-40. A record temp for us is 20 degrees. Incidentally Mopar is the 1 who provides the warranty for our trucks. So........
