I had an issue with this and after I replaced water pump, radiator, and thermostat. Turned out to be a air pocket in water. I had to crack port at egr cooler and bleed system till all air was out .

**** I wish we had been so lucky.
We tried and tried to bleed mine this pat weekend after doing a coolant bypass.
It just wouldn't come out no matter what we tried.
I had to go borrow a friends air lift and vacuum mine out then refill the coolant using a vacuum before it would work.
The air bubble was trapped in the block I guess.
