CAT Fuel Filter and Stock filter delete questions

So perhaps I'm overthinking this a bit, but I don't want to end up ordering something and find out later I screwed the pooch.

'16 3500 DRW needs the fuel filter changed. I'm appalled at the cost for the Mopar/ Fleetguard replacements. Hence my search leading to CAT filters. Has anyone had any success or significant issues with deleting the stock unit (either with the Fleece unit, or the dieselfuelkits unit) and running ONLY the CAT 2um filter (or Baldwin/ Donaldson)? I'm running the stock lift pump at present. Don't plan to change that unit out for at least a year or two. Will be deleting the truck this winter, but no plans for big power, other than cleaning up engine bay and promoting a healthier motor/ longevity.

I've searched through 4-5 different forums at this point, and everything I'm finding with answers relating to the 5.9 or the pre '13 trucks with no rear chassis mounted f/w separator units.

This is the kit I'm looking at purchasing, but I don't want to throw money away if I don't need to.

    Advice?

I have been looking at the same thing. Cat fuel filter delete. I bought fuel filters and water fuel separator off ebay because of the price ,they said they were of equal or better quality. I put them up against the Mopar filter I had on hand and they looked the same and felt the same. I currious to what you found out? Or if you have done it?.

Cat has a great reputation for quality products. Only down fall is hunting to find cheap prices. Many have sworn by them. I use Donaldson, but if the Cat prices were cheaper, I'd through them on too.

Using a satellite filter unit has no issues if installed properly. A major plus is you can install making it easier to switch filters out.

Or you could use the Donaldson replacement for the Cat instead at a cheaper price: $8.60.
I buy many filters from them. https://www.filterspro.com/DONALDSON...p_1005499.html

    Advice?
Are trying to eliminate one of the filters completely?

I have the Black Market Performance fuel filter and fuel water separator adapter kits installed on my truck so I can run a CAT fuel filter up front (takes the place of the factory cartridge filter) and a CAT water fuel separator in the back (takes the place of the factory water fuel separator)

I'm trying to cut costs on filters they are ridiculous prices. I have been reading on here about people complaining about the cost of filters and what filter to run, also that the stock filters don't have good filtration.

I figured I would upgrade the fuel system with cat filters and water separator and delete the one on the side of the engine.

According to your avatar, you have a 2017

I have a 2016. I like the filter set up you have I was looking at the same thing but just putting both filters in the rear of the truck.

How did you get the water fuel separator filter to work? In other words, my question is how did you make it work without the wire plug in the bottom of the filter so that it did not throw codes (check engine light)?

Relocate the engine fuel filter to the rear next to the water fuel separator? That's a good idea, beastprojects did that on his Cummins.

Click on the link to watch the video.

The adapter for the fuel water separator comes with a new sensor.
