I like you started this thread. It is neat seeing why you fellas got your trucks.

I grew up around ford diesels but never owned one so when I sold my car I was looking into getting a truck. Preferably ford because my father had one but they were all over priced. Luckily they had a 2015 Ram 2500 at Lithia that had just been traded in and wasn’t on their website yet. A smoking price with only 89k on the odometer and the G56. Despite not knowing how to drive stick, I knew I would enjoy this truck for years to come.

I was at the dealership getting an oil change in my '09 1500 and was walking the lot.
After a recent trip pulling the camper into VA I was thinking about upgrading to a 2013 1500 with 3.92 gears.
The '09 had 3.55s w/5speed auto trans and it struggled more than I liked on that last trip.
My sales guy walked out and after explaining what I was thinking he showed me the last 2012 Cummins they had on the lot.
Once the '13s came in they couldn't move it. I got the '12 Cummins for well under what the '13 1500 I was originally looking at.
Over 6 years later and it still makes me smile every time I drive it!!

Basically to take the Wife & I into retirement & Tow the new Family 5th wheel all over the state when that time comes - which will give us (Hopefully A lot of time with the future grand kids).
My goal is to have less then 50K miles on my truck when she is Paid in Full!
Other plans are purchasing a very nice Tri-Toon in which to catch up on a lot of fishing that was missed out on while raising our current 2 kids whom are now 25 & 22.
Also a good excuse to get the grand kids on the water and them into fishing and a few water sports.
Plan is to have the JUDGE paid in full before looking at Boats.
Thus the main reasoning for all my **** Maintenance habits.
It's not the Wild-Sexy-Crazy-Romantic story most would hope it would be - but it is the 100% Simple - Boring - Truth!

I sold my 2012 G56 to buy a house in 2015.Biggest regret in my life, i told my wife i did good for the family so at somw point i need another diesel. I also tols her if i ever find out that they are doing away with the G56 I would have one before they are gone. So word came last year the manuals were going away and the wife didnt have a say in it LOL,so I ordered my 18 G56 in September of 2018. Its more of a nostalgia thing to me ive never owned an automatic vehicle and with that said this truck will more than likely go to the grave with me. If i have to over haul it every so often so be it. My kids are young and my goal is to teach them to drive a manual with this truck. Not knocking the auto guys, i get it. But i drive truck for a living and shifting gears doesn't bother me one bit, hasn't for the last 20 years either.

When we were transferring from AK to AR my wife stated that she had to keep her 14 half ton Gasser Ram and her Mustang.
That meant I was selling the 07 3500 and hauling everything down with her rig, which immediately put me in the market for another diesel.
As to why why I have specifically a 2015 2500?
Frankly it’s because this is the ONLY one I’ve found down here that is a long bed with a G56.
i was tired of my 94 ram 2500 regular cab gas pot . yes it was fun to beat up due to the fact it was already beat up it looked so bad it was embarrassing. i got it from a trade with my cousin. all in all it only cost me $125 for an engine rebuild kit for the car i got for free from work, i had already fixed the engine in the car a month prior. my cousin was having truck problems, but due to the fact he just dropped it of at my work for repairs and didn't tell the office anything about being my cousin and we had already diagnosed the overheating problem ( cylinder heads were cracked) they weren't going to help him out considering he told them the next day that he needed it back right away or he would loose his job, so my work told me this and i called my cousin i told him if you going to loose your job because you cant get to work the only thing i can help you with is ill give you this 1987 toyota corolla and you give me the title to your truck and ill also take care of the already $400+ dollar bill you have at my work for disassembly on the truck he said deal so i got it my work said don't worry about the bill its on us the parts to fix the truck cost me $200 for a pair of cylinder heads about $75 for a cylinder head gasket set and the $125 it cost me to fix the toyota so about
$400so i started driving it and i did for about 5 years it was great it never left me stranded not once. but i was tired of the way it looked so i decided to get rid of itso i traded it in on a ford ... big mistake so two days later i took back the ford and got my ugly ram back. three days later a friend of mine stopped by with another of his friends and they told me his friend had just won at the casino. he was wondering if i knew anyone selling a pickup so i said $3500 and you can take it now his friend said ok so now i had $3500 cash in my pocket and i also new the car lot i gladly returned the ford back to did in fact have a 05 ran 2500 4 door 4x4 diesel which is exactly what i wanted and i knew it was cheap for some reason so down to the car lot i went when i got there i asked about my truck and they were just trying to feed me full of bs and trying to get me to pay more for it they were asking $16000 and wanted me to pay $18000 for it . i said hell no what do you think i'm stupid or something there is obviously something wrong with it because these trucks normally sell for $25000 they got dead silent and didn't know what to say .. i then said where is your manager they asked why i told them i'll be driving this truck home today and they went at it again trying to get me to sign the same paperwork they previously wanted me to.. i yelled at them this time and here come the manager he asked what seems to be the problem . so i told him what his sells men had done and also told him that i will be buying this truck before i leave regardless and i also informed him i knew that something must be wrong with the truck considering the low price so he said i could take it home for $15000 i said how about this i have 3500 cash in my pocket why don't you just sell it to me for 12000 and ill leave my 3500 with you and ill drive home well he went to his office and told me that he couldn't sell it that low but he said if i payed him $12,600 thats including my 3500 so only $9100 owed he said he would finance it himself due to his salesmen being such *** holes well come to find out he never told me it was his truck and i didnt have to pay any interest on the $9100 that i thought i was borrowing
so there is the story about how i got my beautiful white 05 ram now if this one would have only been as good to me as my ugly one was
oh yea the reason i did all of this is originally i wanted a ran with you guessed it a cummins and after 5 or 6 years i got it why because i wanted one just like everybody else
