Coolant found on bottom of ac compressor

    Hi all-

Tried the search function prior to asking, however I've got a coolant seep that I've discovered from the bottom of the AC compressor. The radiator hose is right above it and if I lift the passenger side fender liner, I can clearly
see nothing coming from that hose or clamp. Anyone run across this one? The truck is new to me, 2008 2500, 199,317 on the clock. I'll be driving it home from Calif to Montana in a few weeks or so and dont want that
    splinter in my mind.

    How is your coolant level?

Is it burping out of overflow from being full?

I just acquired the truck, literally bought it and put it up on the rack. Either I’ll pressure up the radiator or start it and let it get warm and see what happens. It’s just difficult to see where it’s originating.

Might have to do some digging around to try and find out where it's coming from. Although a pain this will be very helpful in us helping resolve the issue.

not being a smart arse. but are you sure it is coolant? I know older dodges had a blow off valve or a purge valve or like a weep hole on AC systems. my 02 leaked at the compressor housing and I thought it was coolant as well but found it to be ac fluid that had dye in it. How is your AC system running. how often is the AC compressor trying to kick on? just a thought.

Yep, that’s probably what it is! Good thinking! Just have to add that to the laundry list of “needs attention” that won’t stop growing.

As mentioned, I drove it prob 20 miles and put it on the rack. I was focusing on drivability, but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary for the AC, not even sure I used it, might have had the window down.

Use the AC and see if the compressor is kicking on a lot.

I found a spot just like that on my truck end up being the water pump.

Was leaking out the weep hole just barley any coolant coming out slowly.

Do a pressure check on your coolant system to make sure.
