Need Help/Advice Coolant on drivers side in Yosemite Park

So, we are pulling a 5th wheel up the hills into Yosemite and my oil temp was reaching the mid 220s and coolant temps up to 220. When we got to a flat area I pulled over to cool down and let everything get a break. Left engine running and popped hood. Noticed coolant sprayed all over on drivers side under hood.

Looks to come from water pump, coolant y or? With engine running, I didn't notice any leaks, just a lot of wet spots. Not sure what it is but dont wanna be stuck on highway with 5er and truck, so wanna get it sorted out asap. Also don't wanna risk engine damage if head gasket could be involved, stock head bolts

Also, before pulling over the temps were climbing, then both oil and coolant temps dropped from 220ish to 190s, like instantly.

That was what made me scared before even seeing or realizing coolant leak. Truck is deleted and tuned.

Any thoughts or advice would be great. Not much for any repair places around here and not sure where to even go in Cali!

    Thanks!

How much coolant did you lose?

Looks like a quarter gallon, but I was pulling hard for about 10-15 min.

When was last time thermostats replaced?

Hearing you say temp went from 220 to 190 instantly tells me thermostat was stuck and popped open.

Also while engine is running, check expansion tank for air bubbles going in.

Tell tale sign your head gasket gone.

    Keep us informed

Thanks, I will look into thermostat and check tank.

I think it's the stupid upper plastic y on the radiator hose.

Gonna order a billet one and see if that fixes it

I had mine crack on me- the dealer stocks these for about $60 (plastic). I have a billet one in my tool box in case the replacement cracks before I do my egr kit. I bet it’s from that y!

I agree the plastic one is prone to cracking due to heating and cooling. I replaced mine with billet aluminum.
