    Diesel Brand Matters

I have experimented with different brands of diesel and determined that my truck, 2019 stock RAM 2500 Laramie 4x4, likes Walmart diesel best. When I fill up at Walmart, I average 23+ MPG and can go 600+ miles on 29 gallons. When I fill up anywheres else, my MPG drops to under 22 and struggle to get 550 miles on the same 29 gallons. I do have a 31 gallon tank but only take it down to 29. One other thing I noticed, the DEF fluid last longer and the miles between full Regens is over 1200. I have a daily commute of 75 miles one way, about 40 thru 40 - 55 mph zones and 35 on the interstate at 70+.

Unless its a brand name with a refinery in 300 miles of it, its more than likely from a spot market blender company. Since your truck likes the WallyWorld fuel, stay with it. But getting roughly 1+ difference, that isn't bad. Took my old truck over 20k before I was getting better mpg's.

Break in was what I was thinking about- I’ve never been the one to do it but I was wondering if mpg would fluctuate much

Out of curiosity, what others brands were you using?

While on this subject: Do any of you Gents know the % of stations around this country that incorporates some small amount of Bio-Diesel into their regular diesel tanks?

I normally fill up at the Loves Truck Stop (6 blocks away) - due to its New & Close by & everything is kept extremely clean.
I've read where Loves Country Stores (ALL) mix @ least 10% bio into their normal diesel fuel.
(In some locations maybe a larger %)
Though there is no mention of this @ the pumps here.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Thanks!

How are you averaging economy that high? I have the same truck and my ABSOLUTE best was 16mpg pure highway on (450 miles to the tank, filled up at somewhere between 1/8 and 1/4 tank). Rolling average right now with my daily commute is 14.2mpg across a 30mile round trip that is 95% highway. My 4th gen never saw anywhere near the MPGs you're seeing until it was tuned. Stock form it averaged the exact same as this truck...14-16MPG.

I use Loves, Pilot and Flying J on cross country trips. Called Pilot and Loves and was told if the diesel had Bio, the pumps will be labeled. And you can also ask the attendant ( I question this ). And the law states if anything is added, such as Bio, this and the percentage must be listed.

Note: not all stations and diesel has Bio, so you could be in an area that doesn't sell blended diesel. (In my area, there are 4 stations that sells non-Bio diesel.)

    OldBiker!
Here in my area - I have not seen any diesel pumps that state may contain up too 10-15% Bio.
I figure it would be a good thing for Lubricity & Cleaning but not for cetane/power/mpg.

Dam stuff might not play well with the DPF either.

@ Myron - your doing extremely well achieving 23mpg.
Over the last 4 fill ups - I'm averaging 18mpg.
