I just got a notification on the EVIC today at 7,508 miles for an oil change.

So how do you square this with the manual?

I'm not trying to be a problem, and I have no issue extending OCI with UOA, but I would expect the manual and EVIC to be closer.

I think it depends on how use your truck, do you idle a lot, tow a lot, a lot of stop and go traffic etc etc...

Do the newer OLM follow certain programmed Algorithms & Mileage or are they only based of mileage?

I know what I have read - but it's not what the general masses have pronounced!

Short trips, and I do let it idle if it is cold.

    So which do I follow?

I'd say uoa is best, but if i wasn't willing to shell out the bucks for uoa which would you follow?

As long as your motor is healthy you can go based on mileage not what the truck tells you.

Short trips and letting it idle for a long time definitely shortens the oil life. I agree what SyN said. Read the link he posted. It explains a lot.
