Wheels and tires pull the truck together great!

I’ve been following this and wasn’t sure about the black flares but I wouldn’t change a thing!

    Good going!

    Thanks y'all.

Everybody at work complained about the flares telling me to paint match, but I kept telling them to wait for it. Haha.

Wheels and tires definitely pulled it all together. Thankfully it paid off.

Now it's general maintenance time. Brakes and a left front abs wheel speed sensor are en route. Truck is well overdue for brakes, I noticed them when I was putting the tires and wheels on and they made me cringe.

Also ordered a hell bent steering stabilizer with the steering box bracket just to round things out and to get that across the room stare from my better half for acting like a politician and adding "extras" within my proposals. Haha.

    Little fun update,

Drove home today to grab something and smelled an electrical fire. Popped my hood and my alternator was a flame thrower, shut my truck off and it turned into a flamethrower on steroids. So I'm guessing the diodes decided to go crazy. Got the battery cables off fast enough where it didn't completely burn down, but yup, kind of sucks.

Called Chrysler and there's no recall on my truck for the factory 160amp alternator. But I was also told not to fix my only vehicle so they could see it in it's entirety.

I told the woman I can't go a week without a vehicle, but she kept saying and had a "specialist" tell me to not touch it. I feel like this will play out one way, they'll pop the hood, blame everything on my truck being deleted and me having waited for no reason.

Not a great way to end a Thursday!

    Sorry to hear it man.

Good thing you had tools to get the terminals off.

Saved it from being a lit worse that's for sure.

Hope they take care of you.

    Re: So it begins!

    Well, dragon egg alternator update.

Got called today by a restricted number, was Jeff (didn't hear last name), a Ram truck engineer. I asked why he was calling from a restricted number and was told it's just what they do from their end as he's just relaying information.

They passed everything out to an investigator who will be calling me within the next 48 hours to come and look at the truck.

Once again, super adamant about whether or not I touched the truck since the alternator flipped out, reiterated the importance of me not touching it. So Dodge is definitely taking the issue extremely serious considering the age of the vehicle. So I think that's great!

Only odd part is, when I explained the first day I called about not having spoken to my insurance company since my truck didn't actually burn to the ground, they were elated. I stopped it before I did any severe damage. Just burnt up the alternator, melted my belt, and fried my batteries at this point. I'm a firefighter, it would've looked bad to let my own vehicle burn down. LOL

Well this guy just now asked me if I spoke to my insurance company and also seemed happy about me not having spoken to them. I find that super odd that it seems me not having spoken to my insurance company is a thing?

I'll keep you informed of how this goes, I got my new abs module in the mail... So that's a thing. LOL. Hopefully I'll be able to get that thrown on before too long.

Well, 48 hours has come and went. Tomorrow marks seven full days without my only vehicle and I'm getting tired of secretly taking a work truck and using my folks to pick my kids up and drop them off.

So I'm giving it until about noon.....ish and I'm calling them to see what's up. Then I'm calling my insurance company or just forking the cash out for an alternator, belt, and two new batteries. I can't go any long without my vehicle. Since they didn't want me contacting my insurance company I don't rightly feel like throwing cash down for a rental. I could've had the truck back on the road the following day after this happened as long as nothing else has fried. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. It'll either go happily, or I'm going to fix it and pray nothing else got cooked during the fiasco. Just get air fresheners until I get used to the electric fire smell in my air vents.

Mention you've been waiting on them, and either they move or your calling the insurance company ... you need the truck.

After all 'they' seem like they don't want the insurance company in on this.
