    Charge tube question.

I was just checking things over on my new Cummins and noticed the charge tube was not fully seated on the turbo.

Only has 2800 miles on it.

Maybe it's been like this since new?

    Anyone else ever seen this?

I loosened the clamp, slid the tube on fully and re-tightened the clamp.

They are mass produced and this could happen.

When new, I found a coolant leak, corrected it and took it back to complain.

The fitting was there and never tighten.

They checked it out and capped all levels up again.

Maybe it was built on a Friday and they where in a hurry to get out the door and forgot to seat it fully. LOL

Yea, it wasn't a big deal to get it pushed back on.

I couldn't find a torque spec for the spring clamp. It didn't seem very tight when I took it off.

I snugged it up better when i tightened it up. How tight should it be?

If you have it snugged down pretty good I wouldn’t worry about it. Snug is relative but those clamps are designed to not have the nuts back off. If it was a worm clamp you’d have more to worry about!

Are they designed to have the spring completely compressed?

The spring shouldn't be completely compressed no- with my applications usually they would be compressed 1/2-2/3 of the way
