    2016 Charging HELP!!

OK so my 2016 2500 Laramie has 67,000 miles and we were out on a camping trip about 90 miles from home.

On the way back my idle pulley decided to destroy itself. I got that replaced and a new belt but the issue popped up that I am reading 12 volts or less off the truck.

I replaced the alternator and still nothing. I am getting the following codes.

    P0698
    P2228
    U010c
    P1193
    P125A

Could the 70 mile trip back home on a bad alternator have screwed something up?

Or are the batteries bad possibly??

We bet it crushed the batteries.

Try putting them on a slow charge overnight.

    Did charging the batteries help?

If not, any chance that when the idler came apart, the belt got in to the power cable that goes from the alternator to the battery?

Turns out to be a bad alternator from RocKauto.com.

Can an I use a 220 amp vs the original 180 amp?

That is all my local parts store has available.

Yes you can use a 220 amp but I wouldn’t buy one from a local parts store buy a Cummins or OEM only

There's a ton of used ones out there. Very cost effective and will probably last the life of the truck.. Even then, a new set of brushes and bearings will fix 'er right up

I found a used one from a junkyard search, only had 26,000 miles on the truck... lets hope this works.

we checked the wiring to the Alt, signal wire was getting 12V, and the ground was reading correct, just the feed post was not putting out any voltage.... so hopefully the Alt was just a dud, and this one i have on order will fix it...

so yeah... the saga continues... The 2nd Alt is a no go. not sure what the heck is going on.

Also I did something REALLY stupid. I dropped the nut on the stud for the Alternator.

Anyone know the size nut that bolts on to the Alternator? M8?

I checked the 250 amp fuses... they are good. no idea what the heck is going on.

HELP can't seem to get the Alt to pump out voltage to charge the batteries.

Did you happen to get an extended warranty on your truck when you bought it? Looks like you may have to take it to a dealership and let them figure it out.
