    Regen frequency.

Not sure how many Mountain West folk, like myself, love where I live.

    Common sense is still alive.

We have a 2016 Ram 3500 with the 68RFE transmission dually MegaCab. We have about 20k on it now. It had 12k on it when we bought it. I’m pretty fickle about my vehicles and do all I can to preserve them.

When driving in town I utilize the manual mode and run in 3rd and 4th to keep the engine from lugging. May sound silly, but it’s what I do.

With this being said I have realized that I have never witnessed an active Regen since buying the truck.

I see others on other forums have experienced this same issue. I’m an experienced diesel owner, but not with this issue.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance and God Bless.

Why do you think it’s an issue?

And why do you say it’s not went through a Regen cycle?

If you’re running 3rd and 4th consistently you’re probably creating enough heat in the exhaust to avoid a Regen.

My 4th gen never Regenned in 23k because I spent 3 hours a day driving on the highway.

Also, you can avoid lugging in the city in 5th gear down to like 38mph.

You see a significant MPG improvement too.

It may not be an issue so much as different from the Ford and GMC I had. Both of those would indicate a Regen in progress and ask that you drive until completed. We had a 2013 Ram, and as the saying goes, “I have slept since owning that truck” just don’t remember it Regenerating as much either. I’m beginning to think Ram and Cummins are ahead of their competitors when it comes to this subject.
I still see a need to address the egr bs.
    Thanks for the input, Jim

Thanks for the comeback. Always bought trucks to work. Now they are for pulling the wife’s Teton 5th wheel, about 18k. I normally get about 14 in town and up to 18+ on the highway. It sweet spot seems to be about 1800 RPM. Love this truck.
    Thanks and God Bless—-Jim

My '18 done a Regen that i noticed at around 500 miles and that's only because I was outside of the truck. When it does you can hear the exhaust doing it's thing(a ticking like sound coming from passenger side) but other than that the truck won't tell you anything that I'm aware of.
