Thread: G56 questions

    G56 questions

2018 2500 and I have a 188k on her with a 30hp tune since 26k miles. Stock clutch is finally letting go. Brother just put a South bend in his. I drove it and it was not bad. Anyone had a sb and the valair? Like one more than the other? Seems most are eased with both.

Also..... Starting to get a whine while accelerating through the gears, almost sounds like fan in high speed nothing terrible at all. No grinds shifts great. New fluid. Is this due to my clutch on the end of her life x2, thanks for anything y'all!

Wow! 188k on a year old truck? Did you ever leave your truck in that year time? LOL
Look in the search bar. There are a few that have talk about valair clutches. I’m curious myself since I have a G56 also. Will be following this thread.

The Whine could be from the Dual Mass Flywheel. Mine started making a lot of noise before I went to a solid mass flywheel. Mine was more of a clicking sound than a whine, but pretty obnoxious anyway.

As far a valair vs southbend, I just got a Valair organic DD and it seems pretty good. I'm dealing with a bucking issue with it right now but its getting better. Never driven a southbend though. Everything I've read says they are both very good and pretty much just flip a coin.

Forgot to mention that but I have an odd clicking sometimes at idle as well coming from that area

I personally have a Valair DD and I'm happy with it.

A couple guys at work have the SB and like theirs, so another vote for flipping a coin.

I have a Southbend in my 2018, and love it not jumpy like people said it was, even backing up its not jumpy at all. Noise isn't bad at all, running 50w filled over.
