Not knowledgeable of the 4th Gens set up, but on the 3rd Gens, the large Amsoil bypass oil filter (2 micron) is the same fitting as the stock engine oil filter.

Has anyone tried using one of these Amsoil bypass filters as a main engine filter?

I've pondered this, but haven't tried it. The 2 micron filter is of good size/volume and could hold a lot of debris, but could plug up quicker. The only life saver for the engine would be the bypass for the main filter housing. Not to good if you're on the bypass for a long time.

When I worked in an oil refinery, we had equipment with massive 2 micron filters, but the oil was of very low viscosity, more like water. And we had pressure indications pre and post filter to know when it was plugging up. (I don't have the billions of dollars they have)

Anyone else ponder this?
