2016 engine tick at start up

Hello all,

I have a 2016 2500, just over the past few months I have noticed a loud ticking noise during startup and goes away after about 30 seconds which sounds like a sticky lifter.

I would assume it is not with the solid lifters.

Fresh oil Rotella 15/40 and still noisy, oil changes ever 7-8000.

Any ideas or thoughts?

How many miles is on your engine?

The rear bolts on the exhaust manifold have a tendency to loosen up. Check them out. If they are real loose, you may need a gasket.

Unless the valves are really lose, it may not be likely. The exhaust leak could be a mid range, throaty type tick. It won't sound metallic. Belts can fool you too. I have one that sounds like a bad bearing

It's due for a valve adjustment then, but they shouldn't be that loose.

I'd have to hear it to be more help and point you at the right direction.
