    Intake Issues

After deleting my 2018 Cummins I decided to put on a S&B cold air intake. Truck ran great before intake install, had no power and very sluggish after install.

I checked wiring no less than 4 times all seemed fine as far as that goes, good connections on all sensors.

Took intake off and put stock intake with K&N filter back in and it ran great again. I don't get it!

Sending this thing back to Summit for a refund not messing around with it any more.

Anyone ever have an issue with these intakes?

I have seen different response for each item sold, depends on vehicle and use.

I have the S&B and nothing changed. Others got a taste of increase in mpg's, and like you, others were negative.

    Glad you could return it.

Stock air-box is one of the best engineered pieces provided stock.

It flows way more than the motor needs.

    Is the K&N dry filter?

The K&N is one you spray the oil on after cleaning it.

@DRD wouldn't he need to be retuned for the new intake?

Ray said the tuning is not changed when using an S&B intake vs the stock intake.

I was going to get a new MAS and try it but @ 200.00 and special order thru parts house I decided to put the stock set up back on and try it.

Glad I did because the truck went back to running great again.

I know tons of people use these without issue but my issue was real for sure.

Yes this one was a mystery to me. Tuning is the same for a S&B intake vs a stock intake.

Also we have many customers running S&B intakes with no issues, so again I'm baffled.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you like the K&N filter?

Have you experienced any type of "dust" getting by?

Have you checked the intake tube right before the turbo?

I've had great success with a completely open K&N filter on other off-road vehicles that see conditions that are considerably more dirty than this on road rig.

I'd really like to put my K&N back in just haven't heard if they will filter the air as required.

I'm eager to hear your experience.
