    Transmission

I have a 2014, 6.7 TD with 114k on it. Tuner, DEF delete, straight piped. 2nd owner. 1st owner did all that.

When I bought it is 2017 with 204k on it, I took it to PDP in Lancaster SC to have all checked out. He noted the transmission had been worked on. Don’t know if it was a rebuild or what. I did a complete oil, transmission and all filters change.

Have had no problems but one thing bugs me.

Occasionally the tranny will down shift rather hard. It is not consistent and I can’t isolate why or don’t know if this is normal.

It is normally in 3rd I think downshifting to 2nd but not sure. Always catches me off guard.

    Any thoughts?

Welcome!! The hard shift can be hard to determine since the trans has already had work done. Could be the tuning or could be hard parts, or both.

Are you running stock height tires? One other possibility is that speedo calibration is off and confusing the trans. I had this issue in certain situationswhen I first went to 35s. Turned out speedo was out by a few mph and correcting it fixed it.

EFI Live MoterOps Custom Tuning, CSP5 Tuning, TCM Tune Upgrade, Bully Dog.

I have no idea what all that means or if that answers your question.

That is very interesting. I am not running stock tires. All Terrine Coopers 275/70/R18s. 32 inch I think.

Had 35 off roads on when I bought.

Wanted a better ride but I do know the Speedo is not calibrated.

    How do I do that?

It has to be done in the trucks computer. You can purchase a dedicated device like a Hypertech or if you call around, some dealerships will do it as will dedicated off-road shops.
