A big problem trucks have been having with a wonky def gauge reading, this may be telling The computer you are low on fluid but really you are not. The level may not be registering. Not sure if you have tried this.
from under the def tank. Unplug the wiring harness from the pump/level unit at the bottom of tank by base plate. If that makes sense. Start the truck which will generate a check engine light. Stop the truck clear the codes with a scanner (all that you can) Plug the wire harness back in, check the connection. Clean and grease it. Need to make sure you have fluid in tank after.

Have seen bottoms of the tanks glazed over bad enough that you now have lost some capacity. now that I know this info , if you let me know if it went into limp mode without prior low DEF warning . I will reach out to a bud and see if I can find a DIY reset. or if a scan tool is needed.
It was a repair warning that popped up before the tank was empty. I've gotten the low def warnings several times, but this one specifically tells you to take it to the dealer and honestly I have no idea why I got the warning.

My truck has 103600 mi and the tank was spotless!

The only thing is the injector has some crusty def buildup. Instead of going to the stealer, I placed an order with DRD

I would take this opportunity to order a tuner from Drd. Pay for overnight shipping and have it there before tues. Clear the codes and drive it until you can put a new exhaust on it

I’m not certain this works on a Pickup truck, but I have done this several times on class 8.

    Disconnect the speedometer.

Usually get 1400 rpm in any gear or about 55mph.
