    a 48 is definitely what you want. In my opinion. If you look even some of the new trucks to a 48 conversion.

    The warranty is a big selling point for sure and you will have piece of mind that everything has been gone through vs yours may have all kinds of random failures. Im not saying a new one won't but it's less likely.

    A built 48re auto is what you want. All the drag/fast trucks use this transmission. If 700hp is what you’re after you’ll need a triple disc converter, billet input shaft(at a minimum), valve body, and billet internals.

    firepunk definitely has it figured (look at their race truck) and Goerend is a very well know source for quality parts if you want to install yourself or have a shop you can trust to install them.

    Crate transmissions are usually more expensive since you are paying for the convienence of pulling yours and putting new one up vs. disassembling yours.

    At the end of the day a crate trans is used/core with replaced/upgraded parts like yours
