I have not used any wd bars with my setup. Wouldnt mind getting one for the travel trailer to eliminate the very minor sway I get when passing big rigs but its so minor I keep putting it off.

It's definitely nicer towing with the WD setup. Supposedly they do not address's sway unless you have a sway control added to the WD setup. Truck tows fine without it, but definitely peace of mind and more stable. Used setups are easily found on Facebook market and Craigslist for $100-200.

I had a reducer in mine and it had some slop towing light. Clayton’s with DDP hooked me up with a B&W stow and go setup and I couldn’t be happier. Worth every penny IMO

It's mostly on the tongue weight. You shouldn't be hot rodding with that much weight anyway. I've seen guys WOT with big trailers. There is also frame damage to think of in that scenario.
2003- 3500 RWD Automatic. S & B intake, BD Intercooler, Pusher Air Horn, MM3 Double R Tuning, Turbo Timer, electric Flex-a-lite fans, FASS 95, 50 HP tips, upgrade to 351 turbo, 3.42 gears, Twin air compressors, air bags, Remote dual oil filters, Hellwig sway bar, Front Winch. Home made Fuel Heater, BD Exhaust brake with Torque Lock. Tons of TLC
Just as a follow-up, I ended up buying a Class V Curt adjustable ball mount, rated to 20k pounds.
I like to just "hook up and go" without using WD stuff, so this should be the ticket for me.
Thanks for all your responses.

I purchased this item on Amazon to removed the play in the receiver assembly.
Works great and made an improvement in my weight distribution hitch.

Hi- I have a 2015 2500 lifted so need a 12 inch drop- I have a 2 inch hitch with the 12 inch drop.
I am only trailing a 14 foot ATV trailer so if I go with the 2 1/2 to 2 inch reducer will that be OK?
2019 HO - towing 8K using the reducer and no WD or sway control.
I saw the slop you are worried about and I didn't like it either. I cut .020" stainless steel shims and inserted them to remove the slop. It worked great but what does it really improve? Less clunking noise-yes, improved towing-not really, pin longevity?-I've never worn out a pin, nor ever seen one shear.
If your having an issue with how it tows-look elsewhere, that looseness isn't a real problem.
Just my $.02.
I pull this 9K LB travel trailer with a hitch reducer, no prob so you should be fine.
I can't find a weight distribution hitch with a 2 1/2" shank so really have no choice.
My hitch pin did bend a little though.

Just ordered a 2 1/2 shank 8" drop couple days ago for my hitch , It fits my weight distribution set as it is reduced at the bolt setting https://www.ebay.com/itm/Curt-17132-....c100005.m1851
