Hello everyone, just joined and making my first post. I bought a 95 dually 2wd 5spd that had 178,000 miles when I got it last November. It turned 190,000 last week and is currently sitting 150 miles from home waiting for a tow. Apparently it has suffered the "killer dowel pin" syndrome. Took three teeth completely off of the vacuum pump and damaged the teeth on the cam and injection pump. Having very little diesel experience in my 35 years as a mechanic (or "technician" if you prefer), I'm learning very quickly about these things. Thankfully the engine still runs smoothly. I joined to hopefully get some advice on this project since I am sure someone has had this problem. My specialty over the years has been carburetion and ignition systems. I enjoy my older cars, 1968 Dodge D200 2wd and my 69 Charger. I got the dually since the D200 only has a 318 runs on 6 1/2 cylinders and could no longer tow the race car trailer. The trailer with the sprint car, 4 wheeler and all the equipment weighs about 9,000 lbs. just a bit much for the old girl. I've got a Chrysler 413 to rebuild and put in place of the 318. Should pull the trailer real good with that. Been limited on what I can do for about a year while I recover from heart surgery. Getting there slowly but surely. Anyway, I am looking forward to the help and being of any assistance that I may be.
