    P2201 & B16B7 Codes

    I have a 2013 2500 with 96K miles on it

My check engine light came on… codes are P2201 & B16B7.
Research is telling me the P2201 is a bad Nox sensor.
I cant really figure out what B16B7 is?
I cleared the codes and they came back a few miles later.
I had the recall done on the SCR about a year ago.
I take my truck to the dealer for oil changes and its due for one very soon. Should I have them look into it?
Research is also telling me a new nox sensor is a around $800 for me to install it and A LOT more if the dealer replaces it.
I’m moving right now and need the truck.. Am I doing more and permanent damage to my truck driving with a bad Nox sensor?
Not really sure what to do….
    RaceMe ultra? Or fix it?

The B code is for your center brake light. The P is for nox sensor #1 which is the one at the turbo elbow downpipe. You could try a new sensor and see what happens. Also do you have knowledge of the breather filter being changed? Excessive oil in the exhaust can foul the sensor. Unscrew the sensor from the exhaust and see if it looks oil coated. The 2 possible causes are excessive fuel or oil introduced into the exhaust system or the nox sensor has drifted out of range or the sensor is bad. Or you just need a software update. Good luck

    Thanks RAMHUNTER18-

I found the brake light code and fixed the bulb.

I changed the crank case filter about 20K ago... also the truck has been sitting for almost 5 months... not sure if that is a contributing factor. I am due for a oil change at the dealer and i do have a few recalls to take care of. I Will try and take out the sensor to see what it looks like, then see what the dealer says when i pull it in there with a check engine light on.

    Your welcome.
Your halfway there. Hope you get the sensor issue figured out. Drive safe.

I had the same issue with the NOX sensor. MM3 and an exhaust system with no sensors was my solution. Zero regrets taking that route.

Im going in for a oil change and some recalls soon.
Should I reset the check engine light before I drop off the truck? Or keep it on and see what they say?
I don’t want to be charged from them run a diagnostic on it.. All they would know by hooking it up would be the P2201 code… Im sure they would need to “charge” me more to “dig” into the issue.
Or would they say ”you need a new sensor” and then tell me how much it would be to fix.
And how long can I run with this bad sensor?? A month? A year?
