If any member can come with white paper data showing the BDL7349 incorporates a by-pass - please post the info.

I will look again after I wake up - worked night shift last night!

    This data shows no by-pass

    https://shop.donaldson.com/store/en-.../DBL7349/11892

    https://shop.donaldson.com/store/en-.../P551018/62898

    https://shop.donaldson.com/store/en-.../P551018/62898

Neither of these 3 Donaldson filters for Cummins show to incorporate a built in by-pass

Compared to a regular Donaldson oil filter

This is the Only negative I had against the BDL

Does the intervals within the 6.7L have its own oil by-pass?

Sorry trying hard not to post Fake News!

Now that I had my 2nd cup of coffee ... I remember reading they have an anti back flow in them, 'not a bypass' built in the filter.

Re: DONALDSON BLUE DBL 7349 OIL FILTER

I talked with my SR Tech and below is his response.

OEM part number MO285 crosses to P558615. The Synteq upgrade is P551018 and the Donaldson Blue version is DBL7349. None of these three filters has an internal bypass valve.

Since the application for the end user’s truck is a Cummins diesel, I checked the Fleetguard website. They cross the OEM filter MO285 to LF3972. The Fleetguard filter doesn’t have an internal bypass valve either. The primary application for P558615 is Cummins 3932217, Fleetguard crosses it to LF3349 which also doesn’t have an internal bypass. Both Fleetguard parts cross to P558615.

Our cross references appear to be correct. As long as the end user cross references the OE part number for the vehicle he’s working on to the correct Donaldson part number, he should have the correct aftermarket part. If The truck use’s OEM part number MO285, then he can use DBL7349 in both applications, otherwise, he needs to use the correct filter for the application.

If he has questions about the bypass valve and where it is in the system on his engine, he needs to ask a Dodge dealer mechanic, but the bypass isn’t in the filters.

    Thank you.

I wanted the Donaldson Blue. Read about the bypass in the post so I emailed them. This was there return email. Seems to settle the skepticism of some in my opinion. It’s a easy
    purchase. I ordered 4.

Re: DONALDSON BLUE DBL 7349 OIL FILTER

I thought I read some where - saying the reason for the by-pass not being incorporated into the filters was due to their was one internally within the 6.7L itself.

I bought the green aluminum fluted oil filter wrench and boy it makes the oil filter removal so fast and easy but i'm limited to the filters with the fluted bottoms - Not a bad deal
I do have the old style smooth round that would fit the DBL7349 but I am reluctant to try it since the fluted wrench limits the to a complete zero...
I just need to make the switch to the DBL and quit dwelling on it...

Thanks John for your leg work & gathering that information.
