What type of turbo do you want a VGT which is what factory is or a mechanical tubo which you would have to tune for?

VGT i guess
If you don’t use the exhaust break much and are going to keep the truck a while then go with mechanical turbo. 64-67mm borg- way more reliable

then would i have to have a tuner right at the moment im stock
Likely so. Stock fuel and trans is fine- more to disable the codes that would be associated with the VGT not being plugged in

Just replace the actuator
If it is the actuator they are very simple and about $650 I think. All you gotta do is take down the passenger side fender liner and take the unscrew the actuator from the turbo and install the new. I think they are tamperbroof screws

from what iseen you have to have them calibrated by a computer
I just changed mine out. 2014 2500. Got the actuator directly from local Cummins dealer. Paid $366 for it. Local Ram dealer wanted $3100 . Local diesel parts and repair shop wanted $1100. Took my wheel liner out 3 days beforehand and sprayed lower left bolt that is exposed with PB Blaster 2-3 times a day. Not a bad job to do. Does have to calibrated prior and after installing.
