    Re: Good Differential Covers

Next service of my 11.5" - I'm going to apply teflon tape to the bottom drain plug and fill hole - I have a very slightly oily film build up around both. (Can't go wrong with PML).

One thing with these ATF thermal by-pass delete blocks installed = My ATF temps never get even close to 175-180*F - supposed the ideal temps to check your ATF level on the dipstick.
I barely get to 158*F during the summer months.

So most of us know - ATF swells when heated.

If the level on the dipstick is in the ideal level range @ 170-180*F - Is it always going to read low (with the 150-160*F temps & lower temps)?

Even though you have the correct amount of ATF within the 68RFE.

Yes Lubelocker gaskets are the real deal - Will also use one with my PPE 68RFE pan install.

The reason I chose Mag-Hytec was because ever major 68RFE builder says they use this, that was good enough for me.

They were also on sale for 285 shipped, I think PPE dropped the price of their trans pans and Mag followed.

Also that is a ATS thermal bypass, I chose that one over every other brand because I liked the color, kinda wish they made a purple model.

@CDIJeff : Jeff I never asked I don't think - What type of gasket did you use with this New Pan?

I kept the factory one for the Diff and used the Mag one that came with the pan. (The double sided rubber style)

I wouldn't use the one that came with my PML, unless you had to.

It was a thin non rubber style, I believe called a cork gasket.

These are the best gaskets I have found for diffs and pans.

I know this is an old thread, but banks raised the price of their covers for the 19-up trucks.

    $410-425 bucks, screw that.

I was ready for 395 but will not spend another 30 and says another increase on 1 March.

Funny, I just sent an email about the wait times on promised products, and next wha la, I got an email notifying me these are available now at a higher price.

Yea, a bit of ranting on my part.

I have been waiting on GB for a while, and the timing of availability and increased pricing/“sale” price increase date struck me wrong.

That said, I would pull the trigger and have since decided no.

I’m probably stressing over overtaking my truck to the dealer to get the safety recalls closed.

I despise dealer service dept., almost as much as a most car salesman.

It’s been one of those weeks.

    Re: Good Differential Covers

I got a set of BD diff covers for both front and rear just before Christmas for about the Banks' rear cover price.

To me, the Banks looks like it wasn't thought out very well; a part hangs down to catch air and draw it into the fins for cooling.

It's a great concept, but I bet it doesn't take long to get packed with stuff flying off the road, or for those of us with 4X4s, it either gets filled with mud or ripped off due to hanging below the diff.

The BDs fit with no issues, and I am pleased with them.

My neighbor ordered a set for his truck after seeing mine.

I thought it might be something you could check out.
