More power while keeping emissions intact

I’ve had Dodge gassers my whole life. This is my first diesel and it has been good to me for 6 yrs. I still don’t know a whole lot about diesels. But I’m at the stage where I want a little more power/boost/throttle response, etc. while still being able to pass emissions testing. Will a drop in turbo like a BD Screamer and an Airaid CAI be a good start? Then maybe an aftermarket intake horn? I want to keep my exhaust brake, my 68RFE went @ 95,000 under warranty, replaced with a Mopar reman , I’m currently @ 109,000 so I’m not looking to upgrade the tranny at this time. I have 3.73 gears. I tow 11K trailer. I know there are a lot of opinions out there, just looking for the most logical ones.

No need for upgrading turbo or air box or horn there good and not need to change for little more performance. You could go with a striker module plug and play . Or mm3 none delete from calibrated power solutions .

The Stryker is for 13-17, I have a 12'. The Smarty mm3 looks promising. Might go that route! But would that turbo, air box and horn upgrades work with emissions testing?

Can't say about the turbo but intake and air box shouldn't .

So it really is as simple as a plug and play non delete tune. Thanks easymon! Any and all replies welcome.

Like others said - Don’t spend your money on parts at this point as there is a lot more potiential with stock then what comes from the factory. I know Ray with DRD does egr less tuning which will eat more DEF but keeps emissions compliance and will provide trans tuning and better performance. Shoot him and email and he will be able to let you know what will work for your wants

I believe egr-less tuning is for 2013+ trucks. On your 2012 with over 100k any power added tuning may push your DPF over the edge. Have any emissions components been replaced?

No, Nothing been done to engine or emissions. Egr filter change out and turbo cleaned @ 67,500. Maintenance only.

Take a look at Pedal Commander. I know several guys running these as an inexpensive alternative to tuning a new truck. It doesn't leave a footprint on the ECM or cause any more strain on the emissions system.
