“Jumping” when I put truck in reverse

Today when I put my 2007 in reverse, it jumped backwards. It reved up a little when it happened. Seems like it kinda shifted hard until it warmed up. Any ideas?

Have you checked your u-joints and engine mounts? Was the truck in high idle when this happened? This isnt much help but hopefully someone else will chime in shortly.

Nah, it wasn’t like a u joint issue. The idle speed picked up and it kind of lurched backwards. I had the transmission serviced a couple of years ago and it does well usually. Sometimes with the exhaust brake it downshifts a little harsh, but otherwise has been good. I keep bragging how well this truck has done with 286k miles. Maybe I’m just a bit paranoid.

So when you say it jumped backwards then reved up a little when it happened, I assume you still have your foot on the brake right? Have you checked your fluid level and condition?

Yep, foot on the brake. Fluid looks good and clean and is full. I checked to see if I had any code on my Raceme, but nothing there. Maybe just a fluke. I’ve been bragging how good this truck has treated me since the delete, etc., so maybe it was just a nudge to remind me.

Sounds like normal reverse accumulator operation to me.

My 5th gen jerks going from drive to reverse, my 4th gen did the same thing.

Also, harsh downshift with the EB on is also normal.
