    2018 Ram 2500 Brake Upgrade

So, im not finding any forums about this topic for some reason. What are the upgrades that everyone are doing? I know I don't like the way mine stops and would like any ideas or suggestions y'all have. Should I just upgrade the pads all around or replace the entire system from brake lines?

Can you explain what you dont like exactly.
Did you have the same feeling before you put on 37" tires. What kind of brake scenarios are you not liking? Hawk makes good pads.

I wouldnt think youd need to replace any of the hydrolic system. Just cuz it's pretty beafy stock. I would look into a good set of drilled and slotted rotors with pads from the same company. Prob 7-800 for parts to go all around. Just speculating here. But a 6500-7000 pound truck with 37s them brakes got to get hot and the pads are probably glazed over. I would think youd just need something to disperse the heat. And if you replace them. I might would gravity bleed all 4 corners trying to get most of the old fluid out as its probably gotten pretty hot also. Just the take I would do if it were my truck. Someone may disagree.

I guess with 37’s they will feel kind of mushy? When I put 35’s on at 10k miles, I definitely could feel a difference in the stopping and turning radius. I rely heavily on my exhaust brake and have over 53k on the same pads with over half life remaining on them.
So as for a brand of brake, I really couldn’t say because I haven’t replaced mine yet.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Braking has def gotten worse since the lift and larger tires but I wasn’t impressed before either. I’m thinking at a minimum of replacing rotors and pads. Wasn’t sure if I should touch up the looks of the hydraulics while I was at it. Hopefully someone has done this already and could suggest a setup.

    Following!

I too am not happy with the braking on my ‘17 dually with 68RFE. I’m still on stock tires at 47k. I also rely heavily on the exhaust brake to assist. My last 2 Cummins were a 5 & 6 speed and always down shifted which made a huge difference. Now wishing I would’ve purchased another stick for this reason. I would’ve thought the braking would be much better.

SSBC makes a 8 piston caliper that looks pretty stout. they claim to increase braking power 25% - 35%. Be prepared to spend some big bucks, the ram kit is almost $4,000 for all 4 corners and that does not include rotors. I would live to put these on my 2500 but not at that price.

I’m with you! Way too expensive!! From what I’m seeing, just upgrading to a better pad makes a huge difference and then upgrade to the slotted and drilled rotors just helps keep everything from getting so hot. I think I’ll go one of those options.

Are you currently running exhaust brake all the time? If not then definitely start!
