    Traction Bars 4D Long box

    Hey Y'all,

I searched on here a bit but did not see a whole lot on here regarding traction bars. My truck is in sig. Anyone running traction bars on their rides that don't require due to lift? Everything I have read makes it seem like there is not a bad reason to add these to your truck as there are only benefits. My thoughts are putting 800+ ft lbs of torque (with the help of DRD) at the wheels would make these beneficial for a daily driver/street application.

I am not really interested in fabbing something up. It looks like most kits can be had for about $500-$800 that bolt on or may need some welding. Bolt on is ideal as I own a welder but do not consider myself a welder.

@DudesDieselPerformace any thoughts? You have been great to order from before.

    Any help is appreciated!

Hey bud! Thanks for contacting me!

The reason why most people are against traction bars is because it limits the suspensions articulation. Over the years they have come out with some pretty decent products that are now fixing this issue.

They can be used on lifted or stock height trucks. Ill shoot you a pm bud and discuss it with ya!

instead of welding there are kits that you can mount frame rail bracket that the forward arm connects to, as well as the axle end both welded or bold on bracket. my only experience was my 2nd gen kit and it involved a new beefy flipped 3/4 inch u-bolt kit and bracket. 2nd gens had u-bolts that faced down compared to other gen's. my only complaint was my kit was not adjustable and the installer welded and I ended up with the rear axle alignment off by 2/8th inch. but current now day products have many that are adjustable. I had 6 inches of lift , air bags and honestly the traction bars didn't hurt my articulation. with the power I had on my 2nd gen and the fact it was a long bed and the rear shaft was much smaller than a 4th gen. the traction bars gave all of my 2nd gen drivetrain support.
the thing to consider is depending on your weather and environment look at the best joints for longevity and less maintenance.
pics of my 2nd gen. from dunks performance in Eugene Oregon. you can look at his sight, I thought he did some 4th gen that are adjustable but you can at least look and see what joints and how its designed to give you more ideas. you know how it is, Homework gotta
look on the internet (truck-porn). I'm sure Clayton can find what is best for you.

Nice looking second gen you had!

Claytin got right back to me and recommended the BDS adjustable bar which looks like an awesome kit. It’s spring loaded so you can make it tighter or looser depending on your activity of the day. Travel off road is no problem with this kit (doesn’t matter to me)

I am leaning toward the tuff country 30991 version since they are fully bolt on and they are a shorter kit. I don’t mind the 55”-60” kits in higher trucks but think the shorter arms on this will serve me well for what I am looking for.

Im going to continue to read a bit and make a decision from there!

good luck with the choice. Just know you will likely not feel much difference with one on the truck but you will know what you are saving and protecting with it on.

Thanks for letting me know that....I have read mixed reviews. I am not anticipating feeling much. Like you said- can't put a price on peace of mind!

Which ones did you end up getting? I have been looking and debating on bars for awhile just never committed. I watched the back springs one day while someone put it on gear and there was a lot more movement then I figured there would be from a low torque situation.

I went with the tuff country kit- they are bolt on and a bit shorter compared to some other kits- currently the kits laying in my garage still...I am hoping to install them this weekend. I’ll be sure to update with pics

I paid right at $500 shipped for mine. I wanted bolt on since I am not a welder and they are powder coated black.

$250 for sourcing parts + powder coat + labor to have someone Fab them up for me with no warranty.

I am happy with my purchase and lifetime warranty.

The $800 Thuren set is adjustable....not the same set up as a welded kit. To each their own!
