Thank you for the helpfull write up... and a face to go with the name! We don't get that very often. You look awful serious though. LOL.
If you don't mind, I'd add 2 things. Ray has a video that suggests removing the guide pins before pushing the 2 halves of the controller together to help it seat better. Also, from my own experience, tape or zip tie the usb cable in place right by the plug on the controller. If that sucker wiggles around enough, the monitor will keep going blank.

I second making sure the cable in the back of the monitor is secured! Been down this road!

One of the things I've done on my past trucks on certain connections I have used silicone around the connections. Not inside... but outside a small bead this helped with securing but if the connection was under hood, was another layer of protection for the elements. Not sure if I'll do this to the monitor. When I figure out what style of ram mount I will be using and location instead of suction cup. I'll do some brainstorming on the monitor connection
