New to DRD MM3 and question on tow/haul

I am new to the MM3 and DRD. I have an ‘11 2500. Been using a mini max for the past 7 years without issue.

Also with the mini I always turned on the exhaust brake and tow/haul

I just switched to the MM3 and have about 100 miles on the truck since tuning

I have the tuner set to ‘tow mode’ When I use tow haul the shift points don’t seem very smooth or right. When in 5th and I floor it, the tranny does not want to downshift. Also coming out of 3rd takes forever.

However when I turn off the tow haul the shift points are much better.

I understand the transmission needs to go through a learning process so maybe that’s what’s going on

So I guess my question is... do people use the tow haul all the time?

Lots of guys do, but I don't feel the need with trans tuning. The tow/haul down shifting seems too aggressive to me. I always use the exhaust brake and manually shift when I feel I need too.

Thanks. That's what I tried doing today and it felt better.

I agree. I never use tow/haul but always the exhaust brake and never had any complaints about shift points. I dont run my hard in any higher gear than 4th per Ray's recommendation.
