    Express option questions?

Batting around the idea of deleting the truck this winter. It's a 2014 Crew Cab 3500 DRW. Currently at 85k , Ive had it for about a year it has 1900 hrs driving / 900 hrs idle. Not sure if that's a high idle hour or not.

Truck is not a daily driver. Primarily used to haul slide in camper and trailer spring thru fall as well as general truck duty. I take it out at least once a week on a long interstate drive to keep things lubed during its downtime.

I've had a couple of emissions issues (nox sensor, DPF dP tubes fill up) and am considering getting DRD's new express tuner with 30hp tow tune only and a 4" exhaust w/ muffler. I'm not interested in racing the truck, just want reliability without making mpg worse.

Is this a good option for when driving and not towing? Or would the lite option be better to use the other tunes when driving unloaded.

Is egr probe necessary with the low HP tunes?

At my mileage / hours, would EGR delete be necessary? I'd prefer to just unplug to be able to restore it to stock easier in the future.

    Thanks

I went DRD and 5” turbo back with muffler. I couldn’t be happier. I usually run it on 120hp tune and millage went up around 2mpg. I don’t race it but it’s nice when you hit the throttle to merge or pull out it actually goes! When towing I turn it down to 30 or 60 for a heavier load and I’ll run 90 or 120 with my open car trailer. I have an pre turbo egt gauge that I had before I deleted. Stock it would run easily 1100 or so with a Stryker module not sure how far it would go but it was very easy to hit over 1200. Now That I’ve deleted I’m not sure I could hit 1100 and when you stop it’s pretty much instantly under 400.

Any set of DRD tunes will be beneficial to your truck bud. When we get feedback it's nothing but great things! I think you would greatly benefit from it.

I'll shoot you a message and get some details bud.

Unless you tow heavy often I recommend the 60hp tune if you are going with the Lite option package.

60hp is a great all around tune that won't push egt temps too high when towing.

Other than the slight power increase, why do you prefer the 60 over 30? Is it really that noticeable?

Yes it is. The higher the HP rating the better MPGs and throttle response. I prefer the 90hp tune for daily driving but it is too hot when I pull the camper.

Thanks. I'll give the lite option a second look. Just didn't want to pay for the high HP tunes I wouldn't use for fear of blowing stuff up but if the 60 and 90 work well empty & light towing then it will be worth it.
