    MM3 Tuned and Dealer Visit

    Ok, so here's a question,

I'm going to the Dealer this week for an open recall. The service person looked up my VIN and said all I need is a software update for the 2014 Ram 2500.

Can I remove the MM3 from the OBDII port and pillar mount and still drive it in this way?

Also, once they "update" the software for the recall thing, will I have to reflash the ECM so that I drive it off the lot again?

Please help, don't know what I should do. Should I even be worried at all?

    Thanks
    Alex

Why remove it all? They will know you have tuned it once plugged into their computer. I think you will have to reprogram it afterwards if they overwrite back to stock, but more knowledgeable people will chime in

I know they'll know, I just don't want them jacking with the actual hardware and breaking a plug or mount. That would just piss me off.
My gut says reprogramming would be needed.

Can I drive the truck with the MM3 unplugged?

I believe you can drive with the mm3 unplugged. I think you would def have to put the drd tune back on the ecm before leaving the shop if your truck is deleted.

You can pull the MM3 Tuner out and it will still be programmed on the last HP level you were on with no issues what so ever.

If the dealer flashes your truck you'll need to reflash your truck with the tuning you had installed before.

    Hope that helps.

Ok, pretty good consensus. I know what to do now. Thank you everyone.

I hope this question helps others if they run into this situation.

Just sharing my experience: my service writer is somewhat mod friendly and he advised I return to the stock tune when taking it in for service work since I'd be getting a reflash. He said to reload my tune after the service was complete. Followed that process and all is good!

Now I'm confused? If you return to stock tune prior to dealer trip wouldn't the dashboard light up like a christmas tree having removed EGR, exhaust, etc? I would think truck would go into limp mode
