    Turbo temp

I needed a new turbo install last Monday. While the old was off and before the new was on, I had them add a pyro probe. Since I have an Edge display I had a 'Turbo Timer' from Edge added. I can set the temp for the turbo to get down to, or a pre-set time for the engine to run, before the engine shuts itself down after I turn it off.

So the questions is, what is a good temp to set? Currently I have it set to 350. It's cold out so things are cooling down faster. Is 350 lower than needed?

I don't have a timer, but I "try" to get the EGT's below 300 before I shut down.

Thanks Walla. I called Edge and they said they said anywhere between 400 and 500. That seemed a little high to me so I left it at 350. It's only ran a couple of times for a few seconds after shutting it down so far. But then again, it's winter up here.

Don't listen to them. 300* or lower. I have a Turbo Timer. While my previous units were EGT based, this one is time based. Even on the hottest days, it shuts down around 295*. Summer I idle a minute and a half and winter, 1/2 a minute. At 500*, you're pretty close to crystalizing the oil. Synthetic is higher, but I recall 750 was bad spot. It's been a long time since I researched that.

Thanks for the info Polarco. I lowered mine to 290. It's crazy, but even with outside temps in the high 20's to low 30's, I regularly see temps in the 550 range running 60mph. After the new turbo was installed and towing our 5r home I remember temps in the low 1100's on hills. Outside temp was around 60.
