Just because a company says theirs the best means squat to me. So, over the years I've questioned these claims. I found everyone has a preference and each truck runs better with different oils. So I ran different oils for a minimum of 3 oil changes and each change I sent in oil samples for full results. (I use BlackStone Lab)

What I found was my truck runs best on Rotella T6. (Results proven by the lab). I know others that have tried this and found their trucks run better on other brands. Couple trucks were the same year and make of truck as mine. It takes time and cost can vary, so it's up to you to decide.

The answers will vary like mentioned above but what are y'all running for oil filters? I used to use Mobil 1 in my last 5.9 and never has issues - I have seen a lot of recommendations for Fleetguard & Mopar just looking online.

    Re: Motor oil

Filters are the same as oil preferences. Many are good and serve the users well. Most are brand names. And many are rated between 35 to 40 microns.

I prefer Donaldson DBL 7349. They are rated as 15 microns and good for 15k. But I always change my oil filter at 5k, my bypass oil filter at 10k and the coolant every year ... no matter what.
